My name is Deidre Wicks and I spend my days in a tiny studio in Toronto, Canada where I paint funny animals and giggle to myself continually. I was first introduced to watercolour illustration while studying fashion design at university, before that I never really drew at all. After several years of struggle in the fashion industry I returned to illustration as an escape and eventually, magically, it became my living.
MEET THE STAFF BEHIND WATER IN MY PAINT:
BRONIE the Elder Statesman: At 17 he's seen it all and done it all. That includes acting as a model for my paintings (he hates that) so I now have to sneak up on him to take a reference photo (he hates that too!).
MITZI the Rescue Cat: Mitzi has many talents but she is especially good at walking all over a newly finished painting with her dirty paws.
WINKS the Manx Cat: He may be missing a tail but that's all this cutie is missing. He is very good at reminding me to eat when I'm under a tight deadline, mostly because he wants to eat too.
TAD the Rescue Dog: He maybe old and fat but this adorable 15 year old Chiweenie still has what it takes. He even has a devoted band of groupies that we meet up with on his daily walks. Seriously, he does.
